Anne Fraser
Lowson Anne Collins, Lady Cullen (formerly Fraser; born 20 July 1951) is a former New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. Early life and family Collins was born in Napier on 20 July 1951, the daughter of Lowson and Brian Collins. She was educated at Napier Girls' High School, and went on to study at Massey University, graduating BEd in 1982. Following her first marriage she was known as Anne Fraser. Parliamentary career She represented the electorate of East Cape in Parliament from , after winning it subsequent to the retirement of the previous representative, Duncan MacIntyre of the National Party. She held the seat at the subsequent by less than 240 votes, and in 1989, her name officially reverted to her maiden name Anne Collins after she had separated from her husband. She retired from Parliament in 1990. The same year, she was awarded the New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal, and in 1993 she received the New Zealand Suffrage Centennial Medal. Personal life Ann Collins was born in Lyons, New York. Her father went to Colorado for his health and worked for a timber operations as an overseer soon after she was born. She lived with her parents, Cornelius and Lisetta, and older sister, Ellen. She grew up in a remote area of Colorado where buffalo ran wild on the 25 mile tract of land. At four years of age was given a pony. She was breaking in colts and riding any horse on the tract by the time she was eight years old. She began drawing ponies as a young girl and at the age of 14 went to school at Mount St. Scholastica Academy, a Benedictine convent in Cañon City, Colorado. An Collins (fl. 1653) is the otherwise unknown poet credited with the authorship of ''Divine Songs and Meditacions'', a collection of poems and prose meditations published in London in 1653. Background and controversy Nothing is known of An Collins apart from what can be gleaned from ''Divine Songs and Meditacions'', a collection of poems and meditations published in London by R. Bishop in 1653 "compiled by An Collins." Most commentators have assumed "An" to be a variant of "Anne" or "Ann." Additionally, there are indications within the texts themselves that Collins was a woman.
